With the support of thousands of UFT retirees, Retiree Advocate/UFT won the election in the UFT Retired Teachers Chapter, and we have forced UFT leadership to change its position on Medicare Advantage. That is a nice outcome, but more work needs to be done. The UFT still does not actively support the lawsuits and legislation that are designed to protect our benefits. That will require defeating the Unity caucus in the upcoming, spring 2025, UFT election. The RTC is now a real chapter that represents its members' interests. We need leadership at the top of the UFT that also works for its members - all of its members - both in-service and retired.
The spring 2025 UFT elections will be pivotal in preserving the traditional, fully-subsidized, Medicare benefits that we now enjoy. We can't afford to support a UFT leadership that is more interested in having a seat at the Mayor's table, than in protecting the benefits we earned during our careers in service to our NYC public school communities.
Your donations will go towards the 2025 UFT Election Campaign, including live campaign events, Zoom events, signage, buttons, printed and electronic media, paper, ink, website maintenance, social media ads, print ads, etc.
